The Manchester Evening News understands that United are close to securing the signing of the Brentford attacker after submitting an improved bid exceeding £60 million. Their initial £55m offer was rejected, but the 25-year-old is now expected to join.

Manchester United are reportedly in the closing stages of sealing a deal for Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo by agreeing a new fee.

Mbeumo is set to earn up to £200,000 a week at Old Trafford, a sizeable increase on what he currently earns at Brentford. He'll become the second signing of Ruben Amorim's first summer in charge at United.
