Three people are dead in North Dakota, and tens of thousands are without power in northern Minnesota and northwestern Wisconsin after powerful winds swept across the upper Midwest Friday and overnight Saturday.

Powerful winds and severe storms, including a tornado, tore through parts of the Upper Midwest. Edward Herdebu captured these ominous storm clouds looming in on South Bismarck, as a reported tornado in North Dakota tore up his back garden and areas across the region.

Extreme meteorologist and storm chaser Reed Timmer was at the scene of Friday’s tornado east of Jamestown. He and his crew tracked the tornado with the ‘Dominator’.
